Genshin Impact Kokomi guide: best weapons, artifacts, and teams

It’s been a wild ride for Sangonomiya Kokomi since her debut in Genshin Impact : when she entered the game, the community ridiculed the 5-star Hydro character for a long time. Since then, the leader of Watatsumi Island has not only become one of the best supports available in the game, she’s also become a strong sub-DPS character, as well as the face of one of the most notorious team compositions in recent memory – the mighty Sukokomon.

If you missed or skipped Kokomi during her debut, you can grab her during her rerun banner during the second half of update 3.0. This guide will show you how to best equip Kokomi in Genshin Impact .

Kokomi uses her special ability to heal the team and constantly distribute Hydro effects on the battlefield. If she ignites her Elemental Burst, her standard attacks become her greatest weapon. Fortunately, this strange-seeming combo of requirements for her armament is perfectly fulfilled by one piece of equipment: Everlasting Moonglow, a 5-star catalyst.

This weapon increases the wearer’s HP, provides a healing bonus of up to 20 %, and increases the damage of standard attacks by up to 3% based on the user’s maximum HP. After using a special ability, standard attacks restore energy for a short time. This is not unimportant for Kokomi, as energy generation is one of her major weaknesses.

Eternal moonshine is suitable for a support focus as well as a sub-DPS role.

Alternative weapons for Kokomi can be found in:

While there is an all-around option for weapons with Everlasting Moonglow being suitable for all roles, you should know exactly how you want to use Kokomi when it comes to picking an artifact set.

The best artifact set for support Kokomi is Tenacity of the Milleliths. Starting with two pieces, it increases the wearer’s HP by 20%, and starting with four pieces, it provides a boost to Attack and shield strength for the entire team when elemental abilities deal damage.

The best artifact set for sub-DPS Kokomi, however, is Ocean-Hued Clam. This increases the healing bonus by 15% from two pieces onwards, so it also strengthens Kokomi as a support, and summons a damage effect from four pieces onwards that deals area damage based on the amount of healing the wearer is doing. Since Kokomi heals with her special ability as well as with her standard attacks after triggering her Elemental Burst, that adds up to quite a bit of additional damage.

One interesting thing about Kokomi is that she can’t do critical damage – so you should aim for the following stats distributions on her artifacts:

Kokomi has a place in many teams thanks to her role flexibility, taking on the dual role of support and sub DPS in one described above.

One infamous composition with Kokomi even has a nickname – the aforementioned Sukokomon:

A standard rotation with this team takes about 25 seconds total, consisting of these steps:

This composition is capable of steadily inflicting high levels of damage while keeping all characters healthy.

Alternative team compositions with Kokomi are:

A double Hydro team with Kokomi and Yelan is especially strong, as both characters’ skills improve with increased health – in fact, since update 3.0, the Hydro Resonance that occurs from having two Hydro characters on a team provides a significant boost in HP. Alternatively, replace Yelan with Xingqiu.

Kokomi is an outstanding support for double Cryo teams that rely on Freeze reactions. Kaeya or Ganyu are useful alternatives to Ayaka and Shenhe in this composition, instead of Kazuha you can use Venti or Sucrose.

A third archetype for a Kokomi team is the double Electro squad. You can replace Beidou/Fischl with characters like Raiden and Yae Miko if you have them available and prefer to use them.

The latest possible team composition with Kokomi integrates the Dendro element into its lineup, as Hydro is one of the three elements that can react with Dendro, along with Electro and Pyro.
